Valentino Rossi Photos Assen – GT Chicane 2016

Posted on 31 Aug, 2017 by Scott Jones

A new photographic print is now available from PhotoGP: Valentino Rossi GT Chicane 2016

This image was created with a Nikon D5 and Nikon 500mm f/4 lens at 1/20th of a second exposure. The setting was the Geert Timmer Chicane at Assen, 2016. This is one of the most famous sections of track in MotoGP and one of the most photographed, presenting the challenge of making an image here that didn’t look like all the other GT Chicane shots captured each year at the Dutch GP. Using the slow shutter speed of 1/20th of a second while tracking the fast-moving rider created a softly blurred background in red and white thanks to the Motul sponsorship. The image also shows movement of the rider on his Yamaha YZR-M1. But the rider’s helmet is sharp as a tack, showing that within the frantic motion of riding through the GT Chicane, Rossi is in complete control. Note: The distinctive yellow of Rossi’s color scheme is reproduced correctly by only one printing process offered by the pro labs we use. Thus all VR prints are offered only as Giclée on canvas prints.

This image is available via this page in three sizes of Giclée prints on canvas: 15×10″, 18×12″ and 24×16″
